I was initially dismissive of Backgammon as a game of 'luck' because of the use of dice. However, after being trounced by an enthusiastic backgammoning friend, I realised that how you used your dice throws was far more important than the throws themselves! I proceeded to learn Backgammon theory from the book 'Begin Backgammon' by J. du C. Vere Molyneux (what a name!) and after some effort produced a very respectable playing program including the use of the all important doubling cube. It was only ever released for the IBM PC although an Atari ST version was also developed. In both cases it was written in the assembly language of the appropriate CPU. The graphics were developed with the assistance of Gary Thomlinson and Carl Cropley. No work has been done on the program since 1992. Screenshot
